Your Omer Journey 5786
The 49-day Omer journey is one of the most powerful processes in which one can engage. It is spiritual, metaphysical, earth-centered and embodied all at once; a connection between Divinity and earth.
Each year as we conclude our Second Night Seder we begin this count of the 49 days between Passover and Shavuot, preparing us first to meet the Infinite One at Mt. Sinai, then fueling us for the work beyond. This year we need this journey more than ever.
Using Kabbalah’s sefirot — Divine Emanations — Your Omer Journey 5786 is a booklet designed to guide you as you walk this path. The materials have their source in classes I have taught over the last several years in guiding folks through this seven-week process. Beginning with an introduction into the Omer, the text then deeply explores the sefirah of each week, delving into its mystical and practical applications, preparing us for the energetic opportunities available to us. After a dive into each sefirah, alongside the blessings there is a teaching and practice for each day of the journey. This written guide is designed to include the ancient, agricultural significance of these 49 days as well as the spiritual journey elucidated by the Kabbalists. Therefore, it is filled with embodied, earth and nature-centered, teachings along with a place for your personal notes for each day’s practice.
This booklet is available for 2026 as a Download for $36. Order here.

A New Jewish Story
“The stories we hold shape who we are now, and who we’re becoming. To create new stories, we must revisit the roots of our old stories and ask: What truths did they hold? What do they still ask of us today?
The Kabbalists taught us to read Torah not only in the letters — the “black fire” — but in the spaces between — the “white fire.” In those gaps lie openings for imagination, fresh perspectives, and new narratives.” - Kabbalah Experience
Delving into the primal story of the Garden of Eden, we explore the text and ask: Where does this story speak to us? Where do we take it for granted? At close range, what gaps does it have, or what questions does it bring forth? How can uncovering hidden truths affect how we understand this story and how we unfold in our lives? How can different understandings of this story evolve us into a new way of being in ourselves and in community?
Last spring I was honored to be a Kabbalah Center fellow exploring these questions and more about the Garden of Eden story. Alongside colleagues, over weeks of inquiry, we each found openings and new questions, and ultimately, a way to bring this text to others to continue to the journey.
Join me for our particular walk into the Gan Eden - the Garden of Eden - with its literal and mystical understandings and the possibilities it can bring into our lives.
At Judea Reform Congregation, 1933 Cornwallis Rd, Durham
Five Weeks: April 15, 22, 29, May 6 and 13

Who or What is God and What Does it Matter Anyway?
"Rabbi, I don't believe in God," I've often heard.
I respond: "Tell me about this God you don't believe in."
In every case, after hearing their description, I've honestly said, "I don't believe in that God either."
The Holy One, Havayah, Rock, El Shaddai, Shepherd, Merciful One, Source, Ein Sof-Without End, Sacred Well… These are some of the names for God in Judaism outside of the more familiar Adonai, Elohim and Hashem. What does each of these names mean? How might understanding them more fully contribute to our own evolving spirituality, enriching our lives? We will explore and discuss these names and our own evolving relationship with The Creator.
Four Thursdays: February 26, March 12, 19 and 26, 6:30-8:00 PM
Judea Reform Congregation, 1933 W Cornwallis Rd. Durham, NC 27705

Ferocious Love 2 - A Passover Supplement; Second Edition
Welcome to Ferocious Love 2. With all the richness of the original Ferocious Love, this year’s Passover supplement is updated to address the current needs we are experiencing. I said this last year, but it is true yet again: "This year the theme of Passover is more urgent than ever.”
In addition to the people of our country experiencing losses of freedom in work, faith, ethnicity, race, sexual and gender orientation, education, increased anti-Semitism, freedom for the future of our planet, freedom over our bodies, freedom to vote, even freedom to speak, this year we add the horrendous attacks by patrols that are taking people off the street and murdering innocents. We must respond to this takeover. We are also once again at war in Israel. We must respond with love and with urgency, with intensity yet kindness, never losing sight of the goal of a world a community of love and care.
I have teamed with Designer + Art Historian Alva Horton, to bring you Ferocious Love 2 to enhance your Passover Seders with the messages of caring for the self and caring for all people and creation with passionate goodness. With contributions by Rabbi Rachel Hertzman, Dr. Melila Hellner Eshed and Michael Greenwald.
We’ve added additional prayers this year. Ferocious Love 2 may be used used as a stand-alone supplement or a companion to your Haggadah.
Available in two forms: as a download and as a printed booklet.
Preorder here.
