Hanukkah
How often does Hanukkah coincide with the secular New Year’s Eve? What a powerful synchronicity. As we light the hanukkiah (Hanukkah menorah) this night, we will have the added kavanah (intention) in our spiritual practice to cultivate ever brighter light within, seeing how to shine it more fully to heal the darkness in the world around us.

Ma Tovu! How Wonderful is this Dwelling Place
Our body is the temple of our soul. It is intimately connected to the body of the Earth and her rhythms - which bring us so many types of nourishment. Guided by texts from Torah, Maimonides, the Siddur and Mysticism, we will use Jewish wisdom to enhance the spirituality of our physical self. Conversations, learning with breath, meditation, sound and movement... Oh, and did I say food?... will help us cultivate a richer relationship with our physical experience as we journey on this beautiful planet.
Four Sundays, January 5, 12, 19 and 26, 2025

Hashkatah/Shavasana
Hashkatah is a practice created by the Piasezcner Rebbe in the Warsaw Ghetto during WWII. As a prisoner and leader, he created this powerful healing mindfulness practice which has a deep capacity for restoring and giving hope. BKS Iyengar taught a different process: a resting practice in the Shivasana pose (at the end of most yoga sessions) that calms and restores. Through experimentation I discovered that blending these two practices offers extraordinary opportunities to heal our sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems, giving us new choices. Whether you are dealing with trauma, PTSD, or just regular-old stress, this course can offer deep healing and renewal.

Cultivating Gratitude
Gratitude has a powerful effect on our minds and bodies. Our rabbis of old knew this when they talked in the Talmud about cultivating a gratitude practice. Did they know that gratitude boosts our immune system, while it reduces stress, anxiety, and even depression? Did they know that creating a practice of appreciation makes for better relationships, enhances sleep, and overall just makes us happier? Join me to explore the power of gratitude.
