Elul is the month before Rosh Hashanah. It is during this month that we look inside, taking account of our lives in preparation for the Ten Days of Awe; Rosh Hashanah through Yom Kippur.
According to the Kabbalists, Elul is a special time in that the energy of the Divine is very close to us, which allows us to breathe new life and possibility into ourselves. The word Elul itself expresses this sentiment. It is a Hebrew acronym of these words: “אֲנִ֤י לְדוֹדִי֙ וְדוֹדִ֣י לִ֔י” — “Ani l’dodi v’dodi li” — “I am my beloved’s and my beloved is mine,” (Song of Songs 6:3).
What is the opportunity of seeing ourselves as the Beloved Divine Creator sees us? We can see ourselves as the beloved, with kindness, care and appreciation. As such, this unique month offers us dedicated time for personal acknowledgment, inquiry, prayer and practice to help us connect very deeply with the beloved within.
Together in this course we will make compassionate inquiries and discoveries about who we’ve been this year. We begin with self acknowledgment as a step to fortify our goodness and our belief in our capacity. Then we explore what we might like to release that has not served us this year. Finally, we inquire about what we might like to cultivate in the upcoming New Year. We will address this process in four areas:
Week 1: Our Relationship with Ourself
Week 2: Our Relationship with Others
Week 3: Our Relationship with the Planet/Creation
Week 4: Our Relationship with Source/The Divine
There will be a workbook provided with teachings, practices and space for your notes.
Sessions will be held virtually.
